Changing facilities

Changing facilities designed with efficiency and well-being in mind

Changing rooms are an indispensable part of laboratories, workshops and sports facilities. Do you want your employees to feel completely at ease in these spaces and rest assured that their personal items will be stored safely? Then we recommend you pay particular attention to how you design and equip your changing wardrobes.

Changing room design options

Changing rooms are more than just a quick means of changing from street clothes into work clothes. Instead, they are often a place to take a moment to relax after a long day or chat with colleagues. Having appropriate, practical changing furniture is essential to meet these additional requirements.

Furnishings tailored to your needs: Optimum changing facilities for more comfort

There are various options when it comes to changing facilities. At C + P Möbelsysteme, you can choose between a variety of furnishings that meet your individual requirements:

  • Wardrobe lockers
  • Changing room benches
  • Lockers
  • Locker cabinets
  • Wall-mounted and free-standing wardrobes

We also have special industry solutions for your changing facilities, including fire service lockers with an enamel coating. Additionally, you can provide your employees with laundry collecting lockers and dispensing lockers for efficiently organizing clean and dirty laundry. Sturdy laptop lockers are perfect for storing and, thanks to the power connection, even charging laptops, notebooks and tablets in the office after work. If your changing room has very little space available, we recommend using our extra-narrow space-saving lockers.

Effective space and placement management for changing facilities

The ideal company changing room is designed and furnished with employees in mind so they can easily reach what they need without feeling cramped. Thoughtful placement of furnishings can help you satisfy this requirement. For example, it makes sense to arrange the lockers opposite each other in a row and install benches between them. Please note that the minimum distances required by labor laws must be observed and that there must always be sufficient space for any necessary rescue operations.

Selecting the best colors for your changing furniture

Colors have a proven psychological impact. They influence our mood and can have an invigorating, motivating, calming or even inspiring effect, depending on the colors that are chosen. Especially in rooms without daylight, such as workshops or storage rooms, it makes sense to work with friendly color concepts that visually brighten the room.

Cabinets, benches and similar furnishings adorned in warm colors and earthy tones such as red, yellow, orange or brown evoke feelings of harmony and comfort. Conversely, cool colors like white, blue, light blue or dark green project a more formal and business-oriented ambiance. The latter are ideally suited for changing facilities in laboratories or office buildings.

Comfort and security are paramount for changing wardrobes

Changing rooms should always have a balanced lighting concept to ensure comfort. This requires illuminance of at least 200 lux and is part of established occupational health and safety guidelines. Warm light in a range of around 3,000 Kelvin is also recommended. This combination will ensure that your lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere and a calming effect.

Providing a well-balanced air-conditioning system that aligns with the current temperature conditions is of equal importance. The minimum value is a temperature of around 21 to 22 degrees Celsius (70 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit).

It is also important never to lose sight of health and safety beyond the shop door. Rather, it should be the common thread that is woven into every area of your company – including the changing room. The latter urgently requires safeguarding against unauthorized access by third parties. Beyond this, it must also be ensured that clothing that comes into contact with hazardous materials is safely stored and lockable compartments are available to protect personal belongings. Ideally, there should also be direct access to the available washrooms.

Cleverly selected changing furniture has a positive impact on the working atmosphere

Similar to break rooms, changing rooms are locations where your employees come together. They are not only a place where employees change, they are also where people share ideas, and they provide a space for both physical and mental relaxation after a demanding workday. Reason enough for you as an employer to design this area with the appropriate changing facilities, a suitable colour concept and a view toward security-relevant criteria.
